Rajesh Khanna movie poster of the super hit old Bollywood film, Aan Milo Sajna (1970) for sale.

This is an actual surviving old Bollywood poster of the 1970 film that featured Rajesh Khanna, widely known as the original (first) superstar of Indian cinema, in the lead role opposite Asha Parekh.

Printed and circulated a few years subsequent to the debut release of the film (somewhere in the 1970s), this hand drawn artwork movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film’s local release in Delhi but never ended up being used.

This old Hindi movie poster was originally designed on a hand painted canvas in slightly larger than the usual half sheet size. It measures 36″x24″ inches, making this rare vintage print very collectible.

This Rajesh Khanna poster features a brilliant hand painted portrait of actress Asha Parekh dressed in an evening gown with a plunging neckline. Her hair is tied into a stylish bun, which made her a fashion icon at the time of the film’s release. Superstar Rajesh Khanna is seen on her lap. The poster is minimalist, set against a blue background. The hand drawn faces, although quirky in their design (which is typical of old school Bollywood poster painters and art studios in Delhi), capture the romance between the two actors very well. Typography used in this poster is English as well as a translation in Devanagari Hindi.

Aan Milo Sajna was a musical romance written by Sachin Bhowmick and directed by Mukul Dutt. The film’s supporting cast included Vinod Khanna, Rajendra Nath, Nirupa Roy and Junior Mehmood.

The music of the film was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyrics were penned by Anand Bakshi. The film was declared a super hit at the box office and the song “Acha to Hum Chalte Hain” became a rage throughout the nation, fondly remembered and played till today.

Aan Milo Sajna is counted among the 17 consecutive hit films of Rajesh Khanna between 1969 and 1971.

Shammi Kapoor movie poster of the super hit Hindi film Brahmachari (1968) for sale.

Featured here for sale is an old hand drawn movie poster of the memorable 1968 Hindi film which featured the Elvis Presley of India, Shammi Kapoor in the lead role.

Printed and circulated a few years after the first release of the film (somewhere in the 1970s), this Shammi Kapoor poster was designed for publicity of a subsequent local release of the film in Delhi but never ended up being used.

Written by Sachin Bhowmick, produced by G. P. Sippy and directed by Bhappi Sonie, Brahmachari also starred Rajshree, Pran, Mumtaz, Junior Mehmood, Jagdeep, Sachin and Asit Sen in supporting roles. The film’s unforgettable music was composed by Bollywood’s greatest music composer duo, Shankar Jaikishan.

This old Bollywood poster features a quirky hand drawn design, which is typical of the old school movie poster design studios in Delhi. Shammi Kapoor and Rajshree are seen in an embrace, prominently at the center of this old Hindi movie poster. The title of the film appears in Devanagari Hindi font on the bottom. Quirky hand draw renditions of Mumtaz, Junior Mehmood and Pran are seen at the bottom of this artwork movie poster. Actor Pran’s face has been hand dawn with a lot of character, which is typical of the style used by old movie poster painters in Delhi to depict villainy.

This old Bollywood poster hand drawn by an art studio and printed in Delhi capitalizes on the massive success of the soundtrack of the film. The top left of the poster features lyrics of a smash hit song from the film sung by Mohammed Rafi and written by Hasrat Jaipuri, “Dil Ke Jharoke Mein Tujhko Bithakar; Yaadon Ko Teri Main Dulhan Banakar; Rakhunga Main Dil Ke Paas; Mat Ho Meri Jaan Udaas.”

Besides “Dil Ke Jharoke Mein,” other songs from Brahmachari such as “Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche” and “Chakke Men Chakka Chakke Pe Gaadi” went on to become a rage throughout the nation and are still played today.

Spectacular hand painted vintage Bollywood movie poster of one of the greatest Hindi films in Indian cinema, Deewaar (1975) for sale.

This is an actual surviving first release poster of the 1975 action film that featured the biggest superstar of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan. Deewaar (sometimes also spelled as Deewar) is considered one of the most iconic movies ever made in Bollywood and finds mention among the cult films of Indian cinema.

Printed and circulated during the first release of the film, this old Bollywood movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This poster was originally designed on a hand painted canvas by the greatest and highest paid Bollywood movie poster artist of all time, Diwakar Karkare. Deewaar is credited with being poster artist Diwakar Karkare’s finest rendition ever, making this poster highly collectible.

Deewaar established superstar Amitabh Bachchan as the angry young man of Indian cinema. In the poster, artist Diwakar solidifies this by adapting a skilful technique to paint over Amitabh’s portrait using a knife. The knife overlay adds a degree of roughness and texture to Amitabh’s portrait, giving him a macho and angry look true to his character in the film. His face is painted in red to reflect his angry mood. The other characters of the film appear seamlessly intertwined together lending drama to this brilliantly hand painted old cinema poster.

Artist Diwakar Karkare’s original signature appears over the hand of actress Nirupa Roy’s portrait on the left of the poster.

The typography used in this poster is completely in English.

Deewaar (The Wall), is a cult 1975 Hindi film directed by Yash Chopra and written by Salim-Javed. Starring the greatest superstar of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan, Deewaar tells the story of two impoverished brothers (played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor) who struggle to survive on the indifferent streets of Mumbai after the passing away of their father.

One of them, Shashi Kapoor chooses the path of good, becoming a police officer. Amitabh on the other hand turns into a mafia don and amasses quick wealth and success. This creates an obvious divide or enmity between them, inspiring the title of the film. Deewaar is believed to be based loosely on the real life of one of Mumbai’s iconic gangsters, Haji Mastan. For preparation of his character as a gangster in the film, it is further believed that Amitabh Bachchan met Haji Mastan in person to study his mannerisms.

Deewaar is widely credited for establishing Amitabh Bachchan as the “angry young man” of Bollywood. Actress Parveen Babi was seen as the new age woman in Indian cinema, whose character appears as a liberated woman smoking and drinking, living-in with her lover – defying all traditional norms of the time. The brilliant storyline and dialogues of the film established Salim-Javed as the most sought after writers in Indian cinema. It is believed they were paid as high as actors in subsequent films they worked on, thanks to the success of Deewaar.

Deewaar bagged numerous awards, and is credited as a must see film in Indian cinema. The music of the film was composed by RD Burman. The track “Keh Doon Tumhe” was a chartbuster.

One of the dialogues from the film, “Mere Paas Maa Hai” is regarded as one of the greatest dialogues ever in Indian cinema and has inspired countless spoofs over the years.

Danny Boyle, who described Deewaar as being “absolutely key to Indian cinema”, cited the film as an influence on his Academy Award winning Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
