Till date, Andaaz (2003) remains the only film in the history of Indian cinema to launch the careers of two beauty queens together. Shot extensively in Cape Town, South Africa, Andaaz (2003) bagged both Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta Best Female Debut at the 49th Filmfare Awards.
A box office hit, Andaaz (2003) told the story of two close friends Raj and Kajal (played by Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta respectively) with a common passion for airplanes. Kajal helps Raj overcome mental challenges in his life and he ends up falling in love with her. However, before he can propose to her, she has already fallen in love with a millionaire called Karan (Aman Verma) and the two are planning to get married. The marriage however is short-lived, as Karan passes away in a helicopter crash leaving behind Kajal as a young childless widow who slips into depression. In the meantime, Karan’s sister Jiya (Priyanka Chopra) falls in love with Raj but when she learns about his feelings for Kajal, she hatches a plan to bring the two together.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters, this Andaaz poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Actress Priyanka Chopra is seen in a stunning still photograph in the foreground. The beauty queen appears suggestively pulling down her denim shorts at the front by tugging the button closure.
