Dum Maro Dum poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the 2011 Hindi action thriller produced by Ramesh Sippy and directed by his son Rohan Sippy that starred Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu in key roles.
Written by Shridhar Raghavan, Dum Maro Dum (2011) also starred Rana Daggubati, Vidya Balan, Aditya Pancholi, Prateik Babbar, Govind Namdeo, Gulshan Devaiah, Anaitha Nair and Mariah Gantois in supporting roles, while Deepika Padukone made a special appearance in an item number in the film.
Co-produced by Ramesh Sippy Entertainment and two American production companies (Louverture Films and Cheyenne Enterprises), Dum Maro Dum (2011) holds the distinction of being the first film in Indian cinema to have its soundtrack mixed in Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound, making this poster, highly collectible!
Shot extensively in Goa, Dum Maro Dum (2011) told the story of a previously corrupt, now reformed cop called ACP Vishnu Kamath (Abhishek Bachchan) who is entrusted by the Chief Minister of the state with the task of flushing out all drug dealers in Goa. On the other side are drug pushers DJ Joaquim Fernandes (Rana Daggubati), Lawrence Gomes (Prateik Babbar), Zoey Mendosa (Bipasha Basu) and Lorsa Biscuita (Aditya Pancholi). A cat and mouse chase begins between cops and dope dealers in the beach haven of Goa.
Printed and circulated during the debut of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2011), this Dum Maro Dum poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Symmetrical close up still photos of Rana Daggubati, Prateik Babbar, Bipasha Basu and Abhishek Bachchan are seen arranged from top to bottom at the center of this original Bollywood poster. The left side of the poster showcases the everyday lives of the actors and the beach state, whereas the right mirrors a darker side of Goan nightlife and the double lives of the actors. A disco ball is seen on the top right, with a rave party unfolding under it.
Typography used in this Dum Maro Dum poster is entirely in English, with it’s title arranged in the shape of a cross to represent the Christian background of most of the film’s characters. The release date of the film is mentioned at the bottom. A message on the bottom right written on a sandy beach questions, “Kya Hai Kahaani Tere Paap Ki?” (What is the Story of Your Sin?).
The soundtrack album of Dum Maro Dum (2011) was composed by by Pritam. It featured the smash hit title track “Mit Jaaye Gham (Dum Maaro Dum)” sung by Anushka Manchanda featuring Deepika Padukone, which was remixed from the original song that featured in Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971).
