Hum poster for sale! Listed here is a very rare original Bollywood poster of the super hit Hindi film Hum (1991).

This is an actual surviving original Amitabh movie poster that featured the “One-man industry” of Indian cinema in the lead role opposite actress Kimi Katkar. Hum also starred superstar Rajinikanth along with Govinda, Deepa Sahi, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan in supporting roles. The crime drama was directed by Mukul S. Anand.

Printed and circulated during the screening of the film in theaters (somewhere in the early 1990s), this Amitabh poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

Hum was the most successful film of the “Shahenshah of Bollywood” Amitabh Bachchan before he took a hiatus of five years from cinema. The superstar also won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for the film, making this very rare Hum poster, highly collectible!

This rare Bollywood poster features Amitabh Bachchan and Kimi Katkar in a stunning still photograph taken from the iconic song, “Jumma Chumma De De.” Set against a white background, the two appear to be standing on the title of the film, which is seen in a very eye catching font at the bottom in a mix of yellow and orange.

The soundtrack album of Hum was composed by ace music composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and the lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It broke all records at the time of the film’s release, selling over three million units. One of the songs from the film, “Jumma Chumma De De” sung by Sudesh Bhosale and Kavita Krishnamurthy became a rage throughout the nation. Its popularity continues till today, with remixed versions played at Bollywood club nights worldwide. Another song from the album, “Ek Doosre Se Karte Hain Pyaar Hum” sung by Sudesh Bhosale, Udit Narayan & Alka Yagnik is fondly remembered as well.

The stellar success of Hum prompted several regional remakes. The film was remade in Tamil as Baashha (1995) starring superstar Rajinikanth, in Kannada as Kotigobba (2001), and in Bengali as Guru (2003). Two songs from the album are believed to be inspired by Guinean singer Mory Kanté’s 1987 album “Akwaba Beach.” Kante’s “Tama” is said to have inspired “Jumma Chumma De De” while “Inch Allah” is believed to have given the tune of “Ek Doosre Se Karte Hain Pyaar Hum.”
