Jism poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 2003 Hindi erotic thriller edited and directed by Amit Saxena that starred Bipasha Basu and John Abraham in lead roles.
Written by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Pooja Bhat, Jism (2003) also starred Gulshan Grover, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Sheeba Chaddha, Anahita Uberoi, Ayesha Kapur, Harsh Vashisht, Bobby Bedi and Subhalekha Sudhakar in supporting roles.
Jism (2003) marked the film debut of John Abraham, making this Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
The film was based on Body Heat (1981) and it’s predecessor, Double Indemnity (1944). Jism (2003) told the story of a playboy called Kabir who lives in Pondicherry. He meets a woman called Sonia Khanna (Bipasha Basu) who is married to millionaire Rohit Khanna (Gulshan Grover). The two get into a passionate affair and soon Kabir begins to fall in love with Sonia and asks her to divorce her husband and marry him. Sonia cautions Kabir that her husband is a dangerous man capable of murdering both of them if he ever gets wind of the affair or her intent to divorce. She convinces Kabir that their only option is to murder her husband and make it look like an accident so that she can inherit all his money legally. What follows is a web of lies and deceit. Kabir begins to question whether Sonia actually loves him or is in fact using him to usurp her husband’s wealth.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2003), this Jism poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Lead couple Bipasha Basu and John Abraham are seen in a sensuous pose prominently in this original Bollywood poster. The still photo is shot against a dark background, giving away the theme of the film which is further spelled out with the film’s subtitle at the bottom that reads, “The Dark Side of Desire.”
The main title of this Jism poster appears prominently in English in a stenciled embossed metallic font, with a smaller translation in Devanagari Hindi seen on the bottom right.
The soundtrack album of Jism (2003) was composed by M.M. Keeravani, while lyrics were written by Neelesh Misra and Sayeed Quadri. It featured two smash hit songs, “Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai” sung by Shreya Ghoshal & Shaan and “Chalo Tumko Lekar Chale” sung by Shreya Ghoshal.
