Old Telugu film posters for sale: Sri Raam Vanavas (1977).
This is an actual surviving rare original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1977 Hindi film which was originally made in Telugu as Seetha Rama Vanavasam (1977).
Directed by Kamalakara Kameshwara Rao, Sri Raam Vanavas starred Ravi Kumar, Jaya Prada, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Gummadi, Saroja Devi, Anjali Devi, Vijaylalita and Jamuna.
A mythological film based on the epic of Ramayana, the film told the story of Lord Rama’s 14 year exile in the wilderness. Special effects in the film were provided by Babubhai Mistry, the pioneer of special effects in Indian cinema.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (late 1970s), this old Telugu film poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Sri Raam Vanavas movie poster features a mix of both photographic as well as hand painted design techniques. A black and white still photo from the film featuring Jaya Prada is seen prominently at the center. The image is flanked by two superbly hand drawn grayscale portraits of Demon king Ravana on the left and a large close up of Sita on the right.
A caricature styled hand drawn image of Lord Ram, Laxman and Sita being exiled from their kingdom is seen on the top left while Hanuman appears with hands folded in a devotional pose on the top right. A bright shade of neon blue is seen in the background of this old Telugu film poster. The title of the film appears in English as well as in Devanagari Hindi on the top in yellow and red respectively.
