On August 13, 2004, an enhanced version of Sholay was released to coincide with its 30th anniversary in the coming year. This is an original two sheet Bollywood movie poster printed and circulated during the enhanced re-release of Sholay – the greatest film ever made in Indian cinema. Printed and circulated in 2004, this poster was originally designed for publicity of the 30th anniversary re-release of the film but never ended up being used.
This poster was localized to be distributed to five select cinema halls in Kolkata, and bears their names on a black strip at the bottom.
Two sheet posters comprise two separate individual single sheet posters measuring 40″x30″ inches each. When pasted together they line up perfectly and together form one single two sheet poster. In the image shown alongside, there may be a slight gap visible between the two – as the images of the top and bottom half have been photographed individually and then joined together digitally. When framed or pasted, there will be no gap visible between the two sheets and the appearance of the poster would be seamless – i.e. just like a single sheet poster.

This very rare two sheet old Bollywood poster was printed during the first release of the film in the mid 1970s. It was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
In this spectacular large vintage Bollywood poster, superstar Amitabh Bachchan who plays the character of “Jai” in the film is seen holding a gun on the top. The other supporting cast comprising Dharmendra (Veeru), Hema Malini (Basanti) and Sanjeev Kumar (Thakur) are seen below. An iconic photo still of the climax scene where Dharmendra is strangulating Amjad Khan (Gabbar Singh) is also seen in this beautiful two sheet poster. The poster features spectacular hand drawn artwork by master poster designer Parchure from Pamart Studio. The three leading characters of the film, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar and Dharmendra are seen in a brilliant hand painted rendition in the poster. True to the title and plot of the film, the entire background is seen engulfed in flames. At the bottom of the poster, Bollywood poster painter Parchure uses his sketch mastery to depict key scenes including the climax of the film. This is an actual publicity poster from the era that the film was first released in, i.e. 1975. This old Bollywood movie poster was originally designed on a hand painted canvas by one of the most sought after Hindi film poster artists/painters, C. Mohan, making it highly collectible.
The poster bears the signature style of C. Mohan’s brilliance, with superbly hand painted passport styled portraits of the lead actors on the top. In the design of this old Bollywood movie poster, C. Mohan capitalizes on the two USPs of the film, the first being its impressive star cast with an announcement marked in bold on the top that says: “The greatest star-cast ever assembled!” and the second its epic storyline, with an announcement that reads: “The greatest story ever told!”
