Female centric Bollywood movies poster for sale: Naari (1981).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1981 Hindi drama written and directed by Sharan K. Chand that starred Sarika and Neeta Mehta in key roles.
Produced by Sohanlal Kanwar and released under the Filmnagar banner, Naari (1981) also starred Rakesh Roshan, Ravindra Kapoor, Ajit, Madan Puri, Suresh Oberoi, Iftekhar, Rajan Haksar and Ajit Vachani in supporting roles.
Naari (1981) told the story of two sisters who choose different paths of good and evil respectively, similar to the cult Bollywood film Deewaar (1975) which featured two brothers. However, unlike Deewaar (1975) which was based in an urban setting, Naari (1981) was based in a rural setting like Mother India (1957).
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1981), this Naari poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by legendary Bollywood poster designer D.R. Bhosle, this female centric Bollywood movies poster features a striking design. His printed signature is seen on the bottom right of this vintage Naari poster.
Known for his restrained approach and minimal backgrounds, master Bollywood poster painter D.R. Bhosle depicts the two sisters set against each other in opposing paths. Actress Sarika appears in her character of police inspector on the right, while Neeta Mehta is seen in the role of a dacoit on the left of this vintage Bollywood poster.
The background of this female centric Bollywood movies poster is also split into two parts to reflect the two opposing shades of character. Soothing shades of blue are used behind Sarika, whereas fiery flames are seen behind Neeta Mehta, capturing her anger and resentment towards society and her thirst for revenge.
Typography used in this original Naari movie poster is entirely in English. The title is seen in minimal white creatively designed in an unequal 3D font.
The soundtrack album of Naari (1981) was composed by the legendary duo Shankar–Jaikishan. It featured gems such as “Mujhe Puchne Ka Yeh Haq Toh Nahin Hai” sung by the greatest playback singer in Indian cinema, Kishore Kumar. The title song, “Main Naari Hoon” sung by Usha Mangeshkar was also popular at the time of the film’s release.
