Namastey London poster for sale.
Featured here is an original Bollywood poster of the 2007 romantic Hindi film produced and directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah that starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in key roles.
Namastey London (2007) also starred Rishi Kapoor, Upen Patel, Riteish Deshmukh, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Vir Das, Nina Wadia, Clive Standen, Tiffany Mulheron and Billy Herrington in supporting roles.
The film chronicled romance between a Desi Punjabi boy (Akshay Kumar) and a British Indian girl (Katrina Kaif). The plot of Namastey London (2007) was very similar to Purab Aur Paschim (1970), which also essayed an east-west romance.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2007), this Namastey London poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Lead stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif are seen in an iconic dancing pose, with their backs touching each other. The background is split in the middle, forming two distinct parts in this Namastey London poster. It signifies the union of two different cultures – east and the west.
The left shows Akshay Kumar riding a tractor amidst fields in Punjab, with the Golden Temple in Amritsar (Sri Harmandir Sahib) in the background. The right of this original Bollywood poster shows the Big Ben behind Katrina Kaif and a London street below. A London Underground sign is seen faintly in the blue sky on the top.
The title of the film is seen in signboard typeface in red, blue and black against a white background at the bottom. Typography used in this original Namastey London poster is primarily in Devanagari Hindi. The subtitle of the film, “A Funjabi Boy Meets a Hinglish Brat” is seen in English on the top.
The soundtrack album of Namastey London (2007) was composed by Himesh Reshammiya, while lyrics were penned by Javed Akhtar. The song “Main Jahan Rahoon” sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan became a massive success at the time of the film’s release and is fondly remembered and played till today. “Chakna Chakna” sung by Himesh Reshammiya was another hit song from the film.
Following it’s success, a remake of the film titled Namaste England (2018) was released starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra, which was a box office disaster.
