Indian bride poster for sale: Sasural (1984).
Featured here is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1984 Hindi family drama written and directed by Govind Moonis that starred Sadhana Singh and Arun Govil in lead roles.
Produced by Bishwanath Prasad Shahabadi (B.P. Shahabadi) and released under the banner of Nirmal Pictures, Sasural (1984) also starred Bharat Bhushan, Shammi, Dina Pathak, Arvind Deshpande and Gulshan Grover in supporting roles. Jairaj made a guest appearance in this Bollywood drama.
Sasural (1984) told the dramatic story of an orphan village girl Chanda (played by Sadhana Singh) who is raised in her aunt’s home. Mistreated from childhood and longing for love and a family, she falls for city lad Narendra (played by Arun Govil). The two get married and Chanda hopes to finally experience a sense of family and belonging at her in-laws home.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release of the film (somewhere in the 1980s), this vintage Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This old Sasural poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by an art studio in Delhi and features stunning illustrated artwork.
Actress Sadhana Singh is seen in a striking hand painted portrait in her character of an Indian bride in this old Bollywood poster. She appears in full finery, wearing a traditional red and gold dupatta over her head, complete with full bridal jewelry and make up. The actress is depicted seated inside a palanquin. A large question mark in white with a blue border is seen drawn over the portrait, with a question on the top that reads, “Abhishap Ya Vardaan?” (Curse or Blessing?).
The background used in this old Indian bride poster is yellow, except for a patch below which is minimal white. Typography used in this vintage Sasural poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi. The film’s large Devanagari Hindi title appears in red with a yellow border, standing out against a white background.
The soundtrack album of Sasural (1984) was composed and written by Ravindra Jain. It featured the hit song, “Sun Sun Gaon Ki Gori” sung by Yesudas.
