Shri Krishna Leela
Shri Krishna Leela poster for sale.
This is an actual surviving rare vintage original Bollywood poster of the 1971 mythological Hindi film that was produced and directed by Homi Wadia.
A Wadia Brothers’ production released under the Basant Pictures banner, Shri Krishna Leela (1971) was a spiritual film that starred master Sachin Pilgaonkar in the lead role as Lord Krishna. Hena Kumari played the role of Radha, while Jayshree Gadkar played Yashoda.
Manhar Desai, Sapru, Kumar Dighe, Deepak, Ratnamala, Padmarani, Tabassum and Tun Tun also starred in this mythological classic.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1971), this rare Shri Krishna Leela poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a movie poster design studio in Bombay.
Actor Sachin Pilgaonkar who plays Lord Krishna is seen on the top in a stunning hand painted rendition playing the flute and wearing a peacock feather on his crown. Concentric halos are seen around his face. Hena Kumari is seen alongside in her character of Radha, holding a flute in her hand.
A scene from the movie where Lord Krishna wrestles with bull demon Arishtasura is seen depicted at the bottom of this mythology movie poster. Lettering used in this poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, except for a translation of the movie title in English at the bottom.
The soundtrack album of Shri Krishna Leela (1971) was composed by S.N. Tripathi. The film was co-directed by John Cawas, the famous stuntman and hero who starred in several of Homi Wadia’s action movies.
