Bollywood Tarzan movie poster for sale: Tarzan Comes To Delhi (1965).
Featured here is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1965 Hindi adventure film directed by Kedar Kapoor that starred award winning, worldwide-undefeated wrestler turned Bollywood actor Dara Singh in the titular role of Tarzan. Mumtaz played his love interest in this black and white classic.
Produced by Surinder and released under the Amar Chhaya banner, Tarzan Comes To Delhi (1965) also starred Bhagwan, Helen, Siddhu, Vishwa Mehra, Samson, Lata Bose, Bela Bose and Laxmi Chhaya in supporting roles.
Tarzan Comes To Delhi (1965) told the story of corrupt forest explorer and poacher Shekar (Siddhu) who takes Rekha (Mumtaz) and her professor father Suri (Vishwa Mehra) on a guided tour. They are hosted by tribals that consider their idol sacred. Adorning their idol is a priceless necklace which is stolen by Shekar, who murders a tribal woman, sets fire to the forest and flees to Delhi. Seeking revenge, the tribals decide to make the two remaining visitors from the city, Rekha and the professor, pay for the crime. Just as the two innocents are about to be sacrificed to the idol by the tribals, Tarzan steps in to save them. He vows to go to Delhi with Rekha and her father to find Shekar and return the revered necklace back to the tribals.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (somewhere in the early 1970s), this Bollywood Tarzan movie poster was designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This Tarzan Comes To Delhi poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster art studio in Delhi and features quirky artwork.
Dara Singh is seen in his character of Tarzan wearing a loincloth on the right. He is depicted making a jungle call to wild animals. A close up hand drawn illustration of actress Mumtaz smiling away is seen on the left.
The background of this Tarzan Delhi Mein poster is a shade of sky blue on the top, along with trees on the borders. A herd of elephants is depicted at the bottom. Typography used in this Bollywood Tarzan movie poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi. The title of the film appears in a stunning yellow font against a black background.
The soundtrack album of Tarzan Comes To Delhi (1965) was composed by Dattaram Wadkar, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. The album featured the memorable song, “Sun Re Sun Albele, Kab Se Hum Hai Akele” sung by Suman Kalyanpur and filmed on Helen.
