Quirky, old hand painted vintage Bollywood poster of the super hit Hindi film Geraftaar (1985) for sale.

This is an actual surviving vintage poster of the 1985 film that featured the biggest superstar of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. Printed and circulated somewhere during the release of the film, this vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

The film also stars south India’s biggest superstar of all time, Rajinikanth (the second highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan), who plays the role of a police officer. South star Kamal Hassan also appears in the film, giving it an unbeatable star cast and making it a unique collaboration of three of the biggest superstars in India for the first time.

This poster was originally designed in hand painted format using oil paints on canvas by a small time art studio, giving it a very quirky hand drawn appearance. This eccentric, old hand painted Bollywood movie poster captures the original angry young man of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, in three different colour tones. A pistol with handcuffs hanging over its barrel is seen as a logo on the bottom. The typography used in this poster comprises a simple factoid at the top declaring the presence of lead superstar Amitabh in the film, while the title is painted thrice in English at the bottom.

Two sheet posters comprise two separate individual single sheet posters measuring 40″x30″ inches each. When pasted together they line up perfectly and together form one single two sheet poster. In the attached image, there may be a slight gap visible between the two – as the images of the top and bottom half have been photographed individually and then joined together digitally. When framed or pasted, there will be no gap visible between the two sheets and the appearance of the poster would be seamless – i.e. just like a single sheet poster.

This quirky, hand painted old Bollywood poster is in absolutely top notch condition, with the exception of slight discoloration of the paper – due to which, it has been graded as Near Mint (NM).

Geraftaar (Arrested) is a 1985 Bollywood action film starring the greatest actor in the history of Indian cinema, angry young man Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. The film was a smash hit in theaters and the presence of south superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth catapulted the movie to cult super hit status in south India. Music for the film was composed by Bappi Lahiri. Amongst the songs, the track “Aana Jana Laga Rahega” was most popular.
