Romance movie poster for sale: Aabroo (1968).
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 1968 Hindi romantic drama that starred Ashok Kumar and Vimi in key roles.
A Rawal brothers’ family production released under the Rawal Films banner, Aabroo (1968) was directed by C.L. Rawal and produced by B.L. Rawal, while the story, screenplay, dialogues and lyrics were written by G.L. Rawal.
Nirupa Roy, Shashikala, Rehman, Leela Naidu, Jeevan, Lalita Pawar, Tun Tun, Mukri and Niranjan Sharma played supporting roles in Aabroo (1968).
C.L. Rawal’s son Deepak Kumar was introduced in the film as “The Greatest Star Discovery of the Year,” although he failed to live up to the hype.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1968), this old romance movie poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by an art studio in Bombay.
A striking hand painted close up portrait of debutant actor Deepak Kumar is seen illustrated in this old Aabroo poster. His endearing smile has been captured perfectly by the artist using expert brush strokes. The poster is set against a minimal white background, with faint strokes seen in green.
Typography used in this old romance movie poster is entirely in English, with director C.L. Rawal’s son launch described as: “Introducing Deepak Kumar” at the bottom. The title of the poster is seen in a striking font in blue encased in a thin yellow border on the top.
The soundtrack album of Aabroo (1968) was composed by Sonik Omni. It featured the popular song, “Jinhe Hum Bhoolna Chahe, Woh Aksar Yaad Aate Hai” sung by legendary signer Mukesh. “Aap Se Pyar Hua” and “Har Chehra Yahan Chand” sung by Mohammed Rafi were other popular tracks from the film.
