Featured here is a rare original vintage Bollywood poster of the hit Hindi film, Aar Paar (1954) that was produced and directed by one of the most influential filmmakers in Indian cinema, Guru Dutt.

Aar Paar (1954) featured Guru Dutt in the lead role along with Shyama, Jagdish Sethi, Johnny Walker, Shakila, Jagdeep and Tun Tun.

Noted filmmaker Raj Khosla was one of three assistant directors who worked alongside Guru Dutt in the making of Aar Paar (1954).

Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the film (somewhere in the 1950s), this old Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

Originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a leading poster art studio in Bombay, this Aar Paar poster features stunning artwork.

A striking portrait of Guru Dutt wearing the uniform of a cab driver is seen at the bottom along with actress Shyama in a dungaree dress. Actress Shakila is illustrated smoking a cigarette on the top in a beautiful hand drawn portrait.

The soundtrack album of Aar Paar (1954) was composed by legendary music composer O.P. Nayyar, while lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. It is fondly remembered till today for its super hit songs and widely regarded as one of the best albums in Indian cinema.

Songs like “Babuji Dheere Chalna” and “Ja Ja Ja Ja Bewafa,” both sung by Guru Dutt’s wife Geeta Dutt, as well as “Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar” sung by Shamshad Begum have earned an unforgettable status in Indian cinema.
