Featured here is a rare original Bollywood poster of the hit Hindi film, Aar Paar (1954) that was produced and directed by one of the most influential filmmakers in Indian cinema, Guru Dutt.
Aar Paar (1954) starred Guru Dutt in the lead role along with Shyama, Jagdish Sethi, Johnny Walker, Shakila, Jagdeep and Tun Tun.
Noted filmmaker Raj Khosla was one of three assistant directors who worked alongside Guru Dutt in the making of Aar Paar (1954).
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical run of the film (somewhere in the 1960s / 1970s), this Guru Dutt old movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a leading Bollywood poster art studio in Bombay, the printed signature of artist Manohar Suresh is seen on the bottom right of this Aar Paar poster.
A striking portrait of Guru Dutt wearing a hat is seen on the right of this Bollywood poster. Actress Shyama is depicted in a brilliant hand drawn illustration at the center wearing a dungaree dress.
