Aladdin movie poster for sale.

Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1952 Hindi film Aladdin And The Wonderful Lamp (1952) produced and directed by Homi Wadia that starred Mahipal, Meena Kumari and Vasantrao Pahelwan in key roles.

Pioneer of special effects in Indian cinema Babubhai Mistry brought key scenes involving the genie to life, making this fantasy film ahead of it’s time.

A Wadia Brothers production released under the Basant Pictures banner, Aladdin And The Wonderful Lamp (Aladdin Aur Jadui Chirag 1952) also starred S.N. Tripathi, B.M. Vyas, Babu Raje, Urmilla, Dalpat, Azim, W.M. Khan, Jillobai, M.K. Hasan & Pandit Amarnath, Mithoo Miyan, Shree Bhagwan, Julian and Raja Sandow in supporting roles.

Based on the popular Middle-Eastern folk tale from The Arabian Nights, Aladdin And The Wonderful Lamp (1952) tells the fantastical story of a poor man who finds a magical genie lamp in a cave and uses it to unite with a princess whom he loves.

Printed and circulated during the debut of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1952), this Aladdin movie poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This Aladdin Aur Jadui Chirag poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a leading movie poster design studio in Bombay.

The “Tragedy Queen” of Indian cinema Meena Kumari is seen in a stunning hand painted illustration at the bottom of this vintage Bollywood poster. She is seen in her character of princess Badar, wearing queenly jewelry while lying down.

Actor Mahipal appears in his character of Aladdin above, rubbing the magical lamp to invoke the genie. Mystical smoke is seen rising from the lamp, ending at the top left of the poster which depicts strongman Vasantrao Pahelwan i.e. the Jinn (genie) carrying an entire palace is in his mighty hands. Supporting actors S.N. Tripathi and B.M. Vyas are also seen illustrated in this Aladdin movie poster.

The artwork is painted in a bright mix of yellow, red, blue and green shades, capturing the fantasy theme of the film beautifully. Lettering used in this poster is primarily in Devanagari Hindi script, with a translation of the title seen in both English as well as Urdu.

The soundtrack album of Aladdin Aur Jadui Chirag (1952) was composed by S.N. Tripathi. It featured the popular track “Yun Hi Ulfat Ke Maron Par Yeh Duniya Zulm Karti Hai” sung by Mohammed Rafi and Shamshad Begum.
