Real vintage movie posters for sale: Bazar (1949).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1949 classic black and white Hindi film directed by K. Amarnath and produced by M.R. Navalkar that starred Nigar Sultana and Shyam in key roles.
The film was released under the Madhukar Pictures banner and distributed by Mudnaney Film Service, with a supporting cast that included Yakub, Gope, Mangla, Cuckoo, Misra and Amir Banu.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical release run of the film (somewhere in the 1960s), this real vintage movie poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Bazar poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi.
A stunning full length hand painted portrait of actress Nigar Sultana dressed in a qawwali outfit is seen at the center of this vintage Bollywood poster. She appears singing the memorable song “Zara Sun Lo Hum Apne Pyar Ka Afsana Kehte Hain, Humen Yeh Duniya Wale Aap Ka Diwana Kehte Hain.”
The background is seen illustrated in a mix of light and dark green, depicting a palace. Typography used in this real vintage movie poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, with the title standing out in yellow against a red background.
An announcement on the top of this vintage Bollywood poster capitalizes on the success of the film’s soundtrack album with the message, “Kabhi Na Bhulne Wale Sangeet” (English translation: “Unforgettable Songs”). Lyrics of two very popular songs from the film appear below it: “Humen Yeh Duniya Wale Aap Ka Diwana Kehte Hain …” & “Saajan Ki Galiyan Chhod Chale, Dil Roye Ansoo Beh Na Sake.”
The soundtrack album of Bazar (1949) was composed by Shyam Sunder, Husnalal and Bhagatram. Songs from the film, particularly “Humen Yeh Duniya Wale Aap Ka Diwana Kehte Hain” and “Saajan Ki Galiyan Chhod Chale” sung by Lata Mangeshkar are fondly remembered till today.
