Bawre Nain poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the old black and white 1950 romantic drama written and directed by Kidar Nath Sharma that starred “The Show Man of Indian cinema” Raj Kapoor in the lead role along with Geeta Bali.
Released under the Ambitious Pictures’ banner, Bawre Nain (1950) also starred Vijay Laxmi, Jaswant, Pessi Patel, Manju, Bankey, Nazira, Prakash, Siraj, Darpan, Kanta and Cuckoo in supporting roles
Bawre Nain (1950) was a success upon it’s release and helped Raj Kapoor as well as Geeta Bali, both of whom appeared previously in Kidar Nath Sharma’s Neel Kamal (1947) and Sohag Raat (1948) respectively.
This vintage original Raj Kapoor movie poster was printed and circulated during the release run of the film (somewhere in the 1950s) and was intended for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Bawre Nain poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a poster art studio in Bombay. Raj Kapoor is seen in a stunning hand painted side profile portrait on the top left. Actress Geeta Bali appears illustrated alongside on the right. The artist uses beautiful lighting on Raj Kapoor’s face, which seem to be emanating from the red background.
Typography used in this old Bollywood poster is entirely in English, with the title illustrated in a striking shade of pink against a white background.
The soundtrack album of Bawre Nain (1950) was composed by Roshan, while lyrics were written by Kidar Nath Sharma. It was a stellar success upon it’s release and kickstarted the careers of both composer Roshan as well as legendary playback singer Mukesh, who would later go on to become “The voice of Raj Kapoor.”
One of the songs from the film “Khayalon Mein Kisi Ke” sung by Geeta Dutt and Mukesh is fondly remembered and played till today.
Other noteworthy songs from the film included “Teri Duniya Mein Dil Lagta Nahin” sung by Mukesh, “Mujhe Sach Sach Bata Do” sung by Rajkumari & Mukesh, “Ichak Beechak Churr” sung by Shamshad Begum and “Mere Roothe Hue Balma” sung by Rajkumari.
