Bheegi Raat poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1965 Hindi film that featured the Tragedy Queen of Bollywood, Meena Kumari in the lead role opposite Pradeep Kumar.
Produced and directed by Kalidas, Bheegi Raat (1965) also starred Ashok Kumar, I.S. Johar, Kamini Kaushal, Shashikala, Rajendra Nath and Achala Sachdev in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated a few years after the first release of the film (somewhere in the 1970s), this Bheegi Raat poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
A remake of the old Hollywood film An Affair to Remember (1957), Bheegi Raat (1965) is believed to have inspired the Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala starrer, Mann (1999).
This old Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by an art studio in Delhi.
The lead couple Meena Kumari and Pradeep Kumar are seen in a stunning hand drawn rendition on the top in a romantic pose. A beautiful effect of rain is seen in striations in the artwork of this Meena Kumari poster. Actor Ashok Kumar is seen in a quriky hand drawn rendition at the bottom, seated on an armchair holding a rifle in his hand.
Typography used in this old Bheegi Raat poster is primarily in English, with a translation of the title appearing in Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu at the bottom. The title of the film appears in a stunning rainy font, in red and black, outlined in yellow.
The soundtrack album of Bheegi Raat (1965) was composed by Roshan and had gems like, “Dil Jo Na Keh Saka” sung by Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar and “Aise To Na Dekho Ki” sung by Suman Kalyanpur and Mohammed Rafi.
