Daasi poster for sale.
Featured here is an original Bollywood poster of the 1981 Hindi drama directed by Raj Khosla that starred Sanjeev Kumar, Rekha, Moushumi Chatterjee and Rakesh Roshan in key roles.
Produced by Subhash Verma under the banner of Gaurav International Productions, Daasi (1981) also starred Vikram, Leela Mishra, Paintal, Dhumal and Siddharth Kak in supporting roles.
A love triangle, Daasi (1981) was a drama based on the story of a man torn between his wife and lover. One of the earliest filmmakers in Indian cinema to explore the genre of noir, Raj Khosla also touched upon casteism and it’s effects on society through Daasi (1981).
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1981), this vintage Daasi poster was made for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Bollywood poster was originally designed in photographic collage format by a leading movie poster design studio in Bombay called Pamart, owned by noted painter V.G. Parchure.
Large close up still photos of Sanjeev Kumar and Rekha are arranged in opposing directions in this Daasi poster. A smaller close up photograph of actress Moushumi Chatterjee is seen below.
Typography used in this original Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, except for a translation of the title appearing in English on the top. The main Devanagari Hindi title is illustrated in yellow, with a black border. A pencil drawing of a woman with her head covered by a dupatta is seen illustrated along with the title of the film.
The background used in this Daasi poster is a shade of purple, with rough strokes of red at the bottom. The still photos are set in a frame, with white space below for the title and credits.
The soundtrack album of Daasi (1981) was composed by Ravindra Jain, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It featured the memorable song, “Bindiya Jagaye Ho Rama” sung by Manna Dey.
