Women oriented movies poster for sale: Daku Bijlee (1986).
Featured here is an actual surviving old Bollywood poster of the 1986 Hindi action revenge drama directed by Reetu Raj that starred Roshni in the titular role as “Daku Bijlee.”
Produced by Mohan T. Gehani and presented under the Devi Films banner, Daku Bijlee (1986) also starred Krishna, Puneet Issar, Kajal Kiran, Surendra Pal, Jayshree T., Goga Kapoor, Chand Usmani and Vaz in supporting roles, while Shakti Kapoor and Kader Khan made special appearances in the film.
Daku Bijlee (1986) told the story of a village girl (Roshni) who learns her father (Goga Kapoor) has become a dacoit. A series of events follow in which she also turns into a dacoit. While seeking revenge for all the destruction caused to her family due to banditry, she ends up fighting for the rights of women oppressed in her village.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (somewhere in the late 1980s), this Daku Bijlee poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
Originally hand drawn on canvas by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi, this women oriented movies poster features striking illustrated artwork. A quirky illustration of actress Roshni smoking a cigarette is seen prominently at the top. She appears wearing a rifle cartridge belt across her shoulder. Actor Shakti Kapoor is seen in a hand drawn portrait smoking a cigarette and wielding a bloody dagger on the right. An illustration of several bandits on horses is seen below.
Kader Khan is depicted in native Indian attire, holding a rile in his hand on the bottom left of this old Bollywood western movies poster. The entire background of this Daku Bijlee movie poster is covered in fiery brush strokes and flames, giving away the action-packed premise of the film.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi except for a translation of the title in English. The title uses yellow with a black border in a cracked font to draw the viewer’s attention. An announcement on the top declares, “Beautiful and Dangerous in Equal Measure.”
The soundtrack album of Daku Bijlee (1986) was composed by Anwar-Usman. It featured the memorable song, “Jalwa Yeh Jalwa” sung by Mohammed Aziz which was copied from the super hit song, “Parda Hai Parda” sung by Mohammed Rafi in Amar Akbar Anthony (1977).
