Vintage Bombay 405 Miles poster for sale
Featured here is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1980 Hindi action drama produced and directed by Brij Sadanah that starred Vinod Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha in key roles.
Presented under the Dynamo International banner, Bombay 405 Miles (1980) also starred Zeenat Aman, Pran, Iftekhar, Amjad Khan, Helen, Deven Verma, Manmauji, Bhagwan Dada, Birbal, Mac Mohan, Sudhir, Raza Murad, Chaman Puri and Shammi in supporting roles.
Written by Kader Khan, Bombay 405 Miles (1980) told the story of two externed conmen Kishan (Shatrughan Sinha) and Kanhaiya (Vinod Khanna) who have been ordered to stay away from the city for five years. As such, they decide to try their luck by traveling to Bombay instead which is 405 miles away from their city. While on the train, they come across a baby girl called Munni who is the daughter of a millionaire being chased by her step uncle (Amjad Khan) seeking to eliminate her. The two decide to find the child’s parents and get rewarded for their effort.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release of the film (somewhere in the 1980s), this vintage Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This vintage Bombay poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster art studio in Delhi and features quirky artwork.
Shatrughan Sinha and Zeenat Aman are seen in hand drawn illustrations on the top, divided by a black and white over painted still photo of a masked man on a motorcycle. Vinod Khanna appears below being strangulated with ropes in a hand painted portrait, while villain Amjad Khan appears alongside on the left holding a pistol. Actor Pran is seen in an over painted black and white still on the bottom right of this vintage Bombay poster.
The background of this old Bollywood poster uses light green and blue shades, giving it a soothing feel. Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is a mix of both English as well as Devanagari Hindi. The two titles appears illustrated in a striking red font, with a milestone interwoven into the text.
The soundtrack album of Bombay 405 Miles (1980) was composed by hit duo Kalyanji–Anandji, while lyrics were written by Indeevar. One of the duets from the album, “Arre Ho Gaye Hum” sung by Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle became very popular at the time of the film’s release.
