Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the old 1998 Hindi film co-written, co-produced and directed by Mani Ratnam that starred the “Badshah of Bollywood” superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role opposite Manisha Koirala.
Co-produced by Ram Gopal Varma and Shekhar Kapur, Dil Se.. (1998) also starred Preity Zinta, Mita Vasisht, Arundhati Rao, Raghubir Yadav, Zohra Sehgal, Aditya Srivastava, Sanjay Mishra, Piyush Mishra, Gajraj Rao, Malaika Arora, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shaad Ali and Sheeba Chaddha in supporting roles.
Actress Preity Zinta made her Bollywood film debut in Dil Se.. (1998) in a supporting role, winning her Best Female Debut at the Filmfare Awards. The film was the last installment of Mani Ratnam’s Hindi trilogy following Roja (1992) and Bombay (1995).
Dil Se.. (1998) was a love story set amidst the backdrop of Assam Insurgency. Amar (Shah Rukh Khan) who works with All India Radio (AIR) is sent to Assam to cover a festival. There, he meets a beautiful Assamese girl called Moina alias Meghna (Manisha Koirala) and is besotted with her. Unknown to him, Moina is hiding a dark past. Raped by the army as a child, Moina is part of a fundamentalist group that is planning on carrying out a series of suicide attacks against the army and state.
Printed and circulated during the first release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1998), this Dil Se movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

The soundtrack of Dil Se.. (1998) was composed by music maestro A.R. Rahman, who bagged Best Music Director at the 44th Filmfare Awards for his stellar compositions. Lyrics were written by noted lyricist Gulzar.
The album was a blockbuster upon it’s release, selling six million units in India. Dil Se.. (1998) was the first Indian film to enter the top 10 in the UK box office charts.
