Hum Tum poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the 2004 Hindi romantic comedy written and directed by Kunal Kohli that starred Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji in key roles.
Produced by Aditya Chopra and released under his prestigious Yash Raj Films banner, Hum Tum (2004) also starred Rishi Kapoor, Kirron Kher, Rati Agnihotri, Jimmy Shergill and Isha Koppikar in supporting roles, while Abhishek Bachchan and Shenaz Treasurywala made special appearances in the film.
An adaptation of When Harry Met Sally (1989), Hum Tum (2004) told the story of a young flirtatious cartoonist called Karan Kapoor (Saif Ali Khan), who’s daily comic series titled “Hum Tum” explores the conflict between male and female personalities. While on a flight to New York, Karan meets Rhea Prakash (Rani Mukerji). He tries everything to charm her but Rhea seems least interested. A series of hilarious twists and turns follow, with the two opposites running into each other time and again. Love blossoms and eventually the two lovers unite.
Hum Tum (2004) received widespread acclaim. For his stellar performance, Saif Ali Khan received the National Film Award for Best Actor at the 52nd National Film Awards. The film bagged five Filmfare Awards, including Best Director (Kunal Kohli), Best Actress (Rani Mukherji), Best Comedian (Saif Ali Khan), Best Female Playback Singer (Alka Yagnik for the title track “Hum Tum”) and Best Scene of the Year.
Printed and circulated during the debut of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2004), this Hum Tum poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
A stunning still photograph of the lead couple is seen on the left of this original Bollywood poster. Saif Ali Khan is seen smiling away, standing behing Rani Mukerji, who appears smiling as well in a yellow dress. The photograph stands out against a blank white background. The right side of this Hum Tum poster is yellow in color, with the title appearing in black and white representing the yin and yang male-female contradiction.
Typography used in this Saif Ali Khan poster is primarily in English, with the title translated to Devanagari Hindi as well at the bottom. Two animated cartoon characters of a boy and a girl are seen on either side of the Devanagari Hindi title.
The soundtrack album of Hum Tum (2004) was composed by duo Jatin–Lalit, while lyrics were written by Prasoon Joshi. It featured the blockbuster hit title track “Hum Tum” sung by Alka Yagnik & Babul Supriyo.
