This is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the hit 1980 Hindi film produced and directed by B.R. Chopra that starred Zeenat Aman, Raj Babbar, Padmini Kolhapure and Deepak Parashar in key roles.
Iftekhar, Simi Garewal and Dr. Shreeram Lagoo played supporting roles in this hit revenge courtroom drama, while Dharmendra made a guest appearance.
The film is believed to be inspired from the Hollywood movie, Lipstick (1976). For her stellar performance in Insaf Ka Tarazu (1980), Padmini Kolhapure won Best Supporting Actress at the 28th Filmfare Awards.
The film marked the debut of actors Raj Babbar and Deepak Parashar, both of whom went on to build successful careers in Indian cinema, making this original Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1980), this vintage Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Insaf Ka Tarazu poster was originally designed in mixed media format by combining both oil on canvas media as well as photographic collage techniques by one of the most sought after and highest paid Bollywood poster designers of all time, Diwakar Karkare of Studio Diwakar fame.
A stunning hand painted illustration is seen on the top featuring Zeenat Aman and Deepak Parashar locked in a passionate embrace. Actress Padmini Kolhapure is seen held by her hair alongside in a still photograph. A rape scene from the film featuring Raj Babbar and Padmini Kolhapure is seen at the bottom in another still picture. Large streaks of blood and fire are seen splattered around the still, signifying the horrors of the sexual assault.
The title of the film appears in English at the top in stunning 3D styled typography in blue. Lady Justice is seen incorporated into the logo. A translation of the title in Devanagari Hindi is seen on the top left of this Insaf Ka Tarazu poster in typewritten font.
The soundtrack album of this Insaf Ka Tarazu was composed by Ravindra Jain and written by Sahir Ludhiyanvi. The film’s popularity led to subsequent regional remakes: Edi Dharmam Edi Nyayam (1982) in Telugu and Neethi Devan Mayakkam (1982) in Tamil.
