Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the hit Hindi drama, Jaane Anjaane (1971).

Directed by Shakti Samanta, Jaane Anjaane featured the Elvis Presley of India, Shammi Kapoor in the lead role opposite actress Leena Chandavarkar.

Vinod Khanna, Sandhya Roy, Helen, Sulochana Latkar, Lalita Pawar, K.N. Singh, Dhumal and Sachin Pilgaonkar played supporting roles in the film.

Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in the early 1970s), this old Bollywood poster was originally intended for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This Jaane Anjaane poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by noted Bollywood poster painter DR Bhosle. His printed signature is seen on the top left of this vintage Bollywood poster. Known for his mastery over portraiture, DR Bhosle’s distinct style of using minimal backgrounds with the entire focus on the human subject is seen in this Jaane Anjaane poster.

A stunning illustrated portrait of lead couple Shammi Kapoor and Leena Chandavarkar is seen prominently at the center. With eyes closed, they are seen in a romantic pose. The entire background has been kept blank, while white and blue lines are seen overlapping their portraits, giving a dreamy effect to the entire illustration.

Actress Sandhya Roy is seen in an over painted, green tinted photographic still at the bottom of this Jaane Anjaane poster. The typography used in this poster is completely in English.

Jaane Anjaane’s memorable music was composed by legendary music composer duo Shankar Jaikishan, while songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Manna Dey.
