Featured here is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1979 Hindi horror film produced and directed by Rajkumar Kohli that featured the largest multi-star cast for any horror movie ever made in Indian cinema.

Released under the Nishi and Shankar Movies banner, Jaani Dushman (1979) starred Sunil Dutt, Sanjeev Kumar and Shatrughan Sinha in key roles. Jeetendra, Vinod Mehra, Premnath, Amrish Puri, Rekha, Reena Roy, Neetu Singh, Bindiya Goswami, Sarika, Yogeeta Bali, Aruna Irani, Madan Puri, Shakti Kapoor, Raza Murad, Paintal, Jagdeep, Mac Mohan, Indrani Mukherjee and Jayshree T. played supporting roles in the film.

The plot of Jaani Dushman (1979) revolved around a vengeful spirit that murders newly married brides on their wedding night by taking possession of a man’s body and turning him into a monster. The film was initially banned by censors but later released with an A-certificate.

Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (somewhere in the 1980s), this old Bollywood horror movie poster was created for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.

The soundtrack album of Jaani Dushman (1979) was composed by hit duo Laxmikant–Pyarelal and became a blockbuster during it’s release. Songs like “Oh Meri Jaan” sung by Kishore Kumar and Anuradha Paudwal and “Chalo Re Doli Uthao Kahaar” sung by Mohammed Rafi are fondly remembered and played till today.
