This is an actual surviving original old Bollywood poster of the 1981 Hindi drama produced by Yash Chopra and directed by Dilip Naik.

Nakhuda (1981) starred Raj Kiran, Swaroop Sampat and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in key roles. Madan Puri, Mac Mohan and Asha Sachdev played supporting roles in the film.

Printed and circulated during the first theatrical release of the movie (somewhere in 1981), this Nakhuda movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This illustrated movie poster was originally hand painted on canvas by one of the greatest and highest paid Bollywood poster painters of all time, Diwakar Karkare of Studio Diwakar fame. The printed signature of master Bollywood poster artist Diwakar is seen on the bottom left of this illustrated movie poster.

Diwakar’s mastery over the paint brush is clearly visible in this old Bollywood poster. A stunning hand painted close up of of actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda is seen prominently in this poster. A smaller hand painted couple portrait of actors Raj Kiran and Swaroop Sampat in an embrace is seen below.

The background features a sunset in the distance and light hues of yellow, orange and blue are seen above. Typography used in this illustrated movie poster is entirely in English. The title features a sailboat signifying the meaning of the word “Nakhuda.”

The soundtrack album of Nakhuda was composed by Khayyam, with songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Mahendra Kapoor, Nitin Mukesh and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
