Buy Bollywood posters Delhi print: Noorie (1979).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1979 Hindi film that was produced by the “King of Bollywood Romance,” Yash Chopra.
Directed by popular character artist Manmohan Krishna (his first and only film as director), Noorie starred Farooq Shaikh and Poonam Dhillon in lead roles.
The romantic Hindi drama also featured Madan Puri, Iftekhar, Padma Khanna, Bharat Kapoor, Avtar Gill, Manmohan Krishna and Khairoo the dog in supporting roles.
Noorie was a super hit at the box office not just in India but also in China, where it was released in 1981. The film joined Awaara and Caravan becoming one of the most successful Bollywood films ever released in China, making this Noorie movie poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical release run of the film in Delhi (somewhere in the early 1980s), this Noorie movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Bollywood posters Delhi print features stunning hand painted artwork. Originally hand drawn on canvas by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi, this vintage Noorie movie poster features a large side profile portrait of actress Poonam Dhillon at the top.
A beautiful portrait of the lead couple Farooq Shaikh and Poonam Dhillon romancing each other is seen at the bottom. A smaller hand drawn portrait of actor Iftekhar is seen alongside. Bharat Kapoor is seen with Poonam Dhillon on the top right of this Bollywood posters Delhi print.
Typography used in this Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi. Noorie was shot extensively in the outskirts of Jammu. The scenic valleys of the region are depicted in hand drawn format in the background of this Noorie movie poster.
The soundtrack of Noorie was composed by Khayyam. It was a stellar success during the film’s release. Songs from the film, most notably, “Aaja Re O Mere Dilbar Aa Ja” sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Nitin Mukesh are fondly remembered and played till today.
The story of Noorie was copied in Teri Meherbaniyan (1985) which also featured Poonam Dhillon along with a wonder dog.
