Noorie movie poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1979 Hindi film that was produced by the “King of Bollywood Romance,” Yash Chopra.
Directed by popular character artist Manmohan Krishna (his first and only film as director), Noorie (1979) starred Farooq Shaikh and Poonam Dhillon in lead roles.
Shot extensively in the outskirts of Jammu, Noorie (1979) also featured Madan Puri, Iftekhar, Padma Khanna, Bharat Kapoor, Avtar Gill, Manmohan Krishna and Khairoo the dog in supporting roles.
A romantic Hindi drama, the film was a super hit at the box office not just in India but also in China, where it was released in 1981. The film joined Awaara (1951) and Caravan (1971) in becoming one of the most successful Bollywood films ever released in China, making this Noorie movie poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical release run of the film in North Indian theaters (somewhere in the early 1980s), this Noorie movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi.
A large striking close up portrait of actress Poonam Dhillon is seen dominating this original Noorie movie poster. The artwork captures the innocence and beauty in her brown eyes with astounding accuracy. The actress is depicted wearing red lipstick. Set against a minimal white background, the artwork stands out in sharp contrast.
Typography used in this Bollywood poster is split into two languages – English on the top and Devanagari Hindi at the bottom. The Devanagari Hindi title appears in white at the bottom of this Noorie movie poster, standing out against a red strip, whereas the English title appears in bright yellow on the top.
The soundtrack album of Noorie (1979) was composed by noted music director Khayyam. It was a stellar success during the film’s release. Songs from the film, most notably, “Aaja Re O Mere Dilbar Aa Ja” sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Nitin Mukesh are fondly remembered and played till today.
The story of Noorie was copied in Teri Meherbaniyan (1985) which also featured Poonam Dhillon along with a wonder dog.
