Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1985 action Hindi film produced and directed by by Harmesh Malhotra that starred Shatrughan Sinha and Hema Malini in key roles.

Released under the Eastern Films banner, Phaansi Ke Baad (1985) also starred Ajit, Shakti Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Iftekhar, Urmila Bhatt, Jagdeep, Madhu Malhotra, Satyen Kappu, C.S. Dubey, Sudhir, Rajan Haksar, Guddi Maruti, Bharat Bhushan and Manik Irani in supporting roles.

Phaansi Ke Baad (1985) told the story of an honest public prosecutor called Vijay (Shatrughan Sinha) who has a stellar track record in the courtroom. Damodar Seth (Amrish Puri) and Sukhdev Walia (Satyen Kappu) are two ex-partners in crime turned sworn enemies. The two have established business empires by running large scale smuggling operations. Politically connected and untouchable, Damodar Seth and Sukhdev Walia know how to manipulate the legal system and get away. When honest inspector DIG Surendranath (Ajit) arrests Sukhdev Walia, his son Vijay represents the state in the case against him. Vijay’s strong arguments stand in court and Sukhdev Walia is taken into custody. One day Vijay’s girlfriend Sapna (Hema Malini), who is a journalist, uncovers a startling conspiracy involving death row inmate Abbas (Shakti Kapoor).

Printed and circulated during the initial release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in the 1980s), this Phaansi Ke Baad poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This old Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster art studio in Bombay.

Lead actor Shatrughan Sinha is seen in a striking line art illustration swinging the butt of a rifle against villain Amrish Puri’s face. A large close up of actress Hema Malini appears on the top center drawn in line art poster design style. A stick figure drawing of a man in the gallows is depicted below her. Supporting actor Ajit is illustrated in a pencil drawing portrait on the bottom right of this vintage Bollywood poster.

This Phaansi Ke Baad poster is designed using a combination of three shades – black, red and yellow, which gives it a stunning appearance.

Typography used in this line art poster design is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, except for a translation of the title in English on the top. The main Hindi title is illustrated in yellow at the bottom, which stands out against a black background.

The soundtrack album of Phaansi Ke Baad (1985) was composed by Anu Malik.
