Nana Patekar poster for sale: Prahaar (1991).
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the cult 1991 Hindi action drama co-written and directed by Nana Patekar, starring him in the lead role.
Produced by Sudhakar Bokade, Prahaar (1991) also starred Madhuri Dixit, Dimple Kapadia, Habib Tanvir, Gautam Joglekar, Makrand Deshpande, Sai Deodhar, Achyut Potdar, Shivkumar Subramaniam, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Vijay Kumar Singh, Cheetah Shetty and Aadesh Shrivastava in supporting roles.
Prahaar (1991) was one of the first films in Indian cinema to show commando training in intricate detail. It explored the travails of a military officer’s civilian life in a society rife with corruption.
Legendary singer Manna Dey recorded his last Hindi song for Prahaar (1991), “Hamari Hi Mutthi Mein Aakash Saara,” making this old Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1991), this original Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Prahaar movie poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a popular Bollywood poster design studio in Bombay called Studio Link. The printed signature of the studio is seen on the bottom right of this Nana Patekar poster.
Three stunning close up hand painted portraits of Nana Patekar, Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia are seen in this minimalist movie poster. Rough diagonal brush strokes against a white background give this Nana Patekar poster a palette like appearance. The artist captures the intensity in Nana Patekar’s eyes with incredible accuracy, in addition to the helplessness in Madhuri Dixit’s eyes and the pain in Dimple Kapadia’s. Nana Patekar is depicted with a bleeding scar on one side of his face.
Typography used in this Prahaar movie poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, except for a translation of the title in English on the top right. The logo of the film, the silhouette of a commando taking aim from a bayonet machine gun, is seen in both titles. The film’s subtitle, “The Final Attack” is seen below the two titles.
The soundtrack album of Prahaar (1991) was composed by popular duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. The album contained the memorable inspirational song “Hamari Hi Mutthi Mein Aakash Saara” sung by legendary singer Manna Dey.
