Madhubala movie poster for sale: Raj Hath (1956).
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1956 black and white Hindi film produced and directed by Sohrab Modi that starred the “Marilyn Monroe of Bollywood” Madhubala opposite Pradeep Kumar in lead roles.
Shot extensively in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Raj Hath (1956) also featured Ulhas, Sohrab Modi, Murad, Kammo and Tun Tun in supporting roles. Released under Sohrab Modi’s Minerva Movietone banner, Raj Hath (1956) was a historical drama that told the story of two warring royal families whose children fall in love with each other.
Printed and circulated during the release run of the film in North Indian theaters (somewhere in the 1960s), this Raj Hath poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi.
A large striking close up portrait of actress Madhubala is seen dominating the right side of this original Bollywood poster. The actress is depicted wearing red lipstick. The artwork captures the sadness in her eyes in amazing detail. Actor Sohrab Modi is seen in an illustration on the left in an animated pose. Both of them are seen wearing royal jewelry.
A statue of Lord Shiva (Maha Shankar) is seen at the bottom of this Madhubala movie poster. A shade of ocean blue is used in the background on the top, except the top right corner which is a mix of yellow and orange, while the bottom features yellow.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is primarily in English, with the title translated in both Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu at the bottom. The English title appears in white at the bottom of this Madhubala movie poster, accentuated with a black and green border, standing out against a yellow background.
The soundtrack album of Raj Hath (1956) was composed by noted music director duo Shankar-Jaikishan, while lyrics were written by Hasrat Jaipuri and Shailendra. It was a stellar success during the film’s release. Songs from the film, most notably, “Aaye Bahaar Ban Ke Lubha Kar Chale” sung by Mohammed Rafi is fondly remembered till date.
