Minimalist Bollywood posters for sale: Shakka (1981).
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the old 1981 Hindi film directed by Sham Ralhan that featured the “Jumping Jack” of Bollywood, Jeetendra in the lead role.
Produced by Kailash Chopra and released under the “The Roop Enterprises” (TRE) banner, Shakka (1981) also starred Simple Kapadia, Prem Chopra, Kader Khan, Zaherra (Zaheera), Om Shivpuri, Nirupa Roy, Helen, Satyen Kappu, Paintal and Jagdish Raj in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1981), this Shakka movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This minimalist Bollywood poster was originally designed in mixed media format using a combination of both hand painted oil on canvas format as well as photographic collage by a leading poster design studio in Bombay.
A striking hand painted illustration of lead actor Jeetendra taking aim from a pistol is seen at the center, encased inside a purple circle. The rest of the background is a minimal white, making the illustration stand out in contrast. A photographic still of supporting actor Prem Chopra is seen on the bottom left of this old Bollywood poster.
Typography used in this minimalist Bollywood poster is entirely in English. The title of the film is seen written in a diagonal font in green.
The soundtrack album of Shakka (1981) was composed by Rajesh Roshan. It featured the memorable song, “Yaar Tere Sab Naach Rahe Hai” sung by Mohammed Rafi, which is played at Indian weddings till today.
