Shor movie poster for sale.
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood movie poster of the old 1972 Hindi film written, produced, edited and directed by Manoj Kumar that starred him in the lead role along with Jaya Bhaduri and Prem Nath.
Shor (1972) was a hit Bollywood musical drama that also starred Kamini Kaushal, Asrani, Manmohan and Krishan Dhawan in supporting roles. Nanda, Madan Puri and Naaz made guest appearances in the film.
Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the film in Delhi (somewhere in the late 1970s), this Shor movie poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage movie poster was originally hand drawn on canvas by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi. Actor Manoj Kumar is seen holding a sweet lime in a stunning illustration on the left of this Shor movie poster. He appears in his trademark side profile pose. Actress Jaya Bhaduri appears alongside in a quirky illustrated portrait dancing to the tune of the song, “Macha Diya Shor.”
Supporting actor Prem Nath, who plays the role of a Pathan in the film, is seen in a smaller hand drawn rendition at the bottom left of this Manoj Kumar poster. Two other supporting characters from the film are seen romancing each other in a drawing at the bottom right.
Typography used in this hand drawn Bollywood poster is a combination of Devanagari Hindi on the top and English at the bottom. The main Hindi title at the top is painted in red with a yellow border, while the English title appears in dark blue with a red border at the bottom. Bright shades of purple, blue and green are used in the background of this Shor movie poster. Circular lines encircle Manoj Kumar’s portrait, representing the cacophony of everyday life, giving away the noise pollution theme of the film.
The soundtrack album of Shor was composed by the hit duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and had some all time classics such as “Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai” sung by Lata Mangeshkar. The film was remade in Tamil as Osai (1984).
