Mera Saaya poster for sale.

Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood movie poster of the old 1966 Hindi film directed by Raj Khosla that starred Sadhana and Sunil Dutt in lead roles.

Mera Saaya (1966) was a super hit Bollywood thriller that also starred Prem Chopra, K.N. Singh, Manmohan, Dhumal and Mukri in supporting roles.

Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the film in Delhi (somewhere in the late 1970s), this Mera Saaya poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This vintage movie poster was originally hand drawn on canvas by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi. Actor Sunil Dutt is seen lighting a cigarette with a match in a stunning illustration on the left of this vintage smoking poster. Actress Sadhana appears alongside in a pleasing portrait dancing to the tune of the smash hit song, “Jhumka Gira Re,” with a drum in her hand.

The actress is seen again in a beautiful close up portrait at the bottom of this Mera Saaya poster. A hand holding a gun is seen dividing the poster at the center starting from the top.

Typography used in this hand drawn Bollywood poster is primarily in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title appearing in English as well. The lyrics of the chart buster song, “Jhumka Gira Re Bareli Ke Bazaar Mein … Jhumka Gira Re” (Lost My Earring in the Bazaar of Bareilly) are mentioned on the top of the poster.

The main Hindi title at the bottom is painted in red with a gun alongside, giving away the thriller genre of the film, while the English title appears in yellow above the barrel of the gun. Bright shades of red, yellow and green are used in the background of this Mera Saaya poster to draw the viewer’s attention.

The soundtrack album of Mera Saaya was composed by Madan Mohan and had some all time classics such as “Jhumka Gira Re” sung by Asha Bhosle and the title song, “Tu Jahan Jahan Chalega, Mera Saaya Saath Hoga” sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

Mera Saaya (1966) was director Raj Khosla’s third film with Sadhana. It was a remake of the Marathi film Pathlaag (1964).
