Old Bengali movie poster for sale: Shubhodrishti (2005).
This is an actual surviving original movie poster of the super hit 2005 Bengali romance directed by Prabhat Roy and produced under the banner of Rajshri Productions.
Shubhodrishti starred popular Bengali actors Jeet and Koel Mallick in lead roles, marking their fifth consecutive film together. Sanjib Dasgupta, Laboni Sarkar, Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, Bharat Kaul, Biswajit Chakraborty and Parambrata Chatterjee played supporting roles in the film.
Subhodrishti, which translates as “Auspicious Sight” is a ritual in Bengali weddings performed when the bride and groom see each other for the first time during the wedding ceremony. The film is remembered for capturing the essence of Bengali culture and traditions through the lens of marriage.
Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the film (somewhere in 2005), this old Bengali movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Shubhodrishti poster was originally hand painted on canvas by a poster design studio in Kolkata. A greeting on the top wishes the audience, “Happy New Year with Love & Wishes.” The successful milestone run of the film is announced below it.
The text that follows credits the production banner “Rajshri Productions” and “Shree Venkatesh Films.” The star cast of Jeet, Koel Mallick, Sanjib Dasgupta, Laboni Sarkar, Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay and Bharat Kaul are duly credited in this typography film poster, that declares the film as “The Best Family Movie.”
This old Bengali movie poster is set in a single tone of red, with the text standing out in sharp contrast in white. Typography used in this original typography film poster is entirely in Bengali. The name of the theater and its show timings are mentioned at the bottom of this old Bengali movie poster for sale.
The hugely successful soundtrack album of Shubhodrishti was composed by Jeet Gannguli, who is duly credited at the bottom of this typographic movie poster. One of the songs from the film, “Jakhan Parbe Na Mor Payer,” was a Rabindra Sangeet composed by nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
