Film poster drawing for sale: Yaadgaar (1970).
Featured here is an actual surviving poster of the old 1970 Hindi film directed by S. Ram Sharma that starred Manoj Kumar, Nutan and Pran in key roles.
Prem Chopra, Madan Puri and Kamini Kaushal played supporting roles in Yaadgaar (1970).
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film in Kolkata (somewhere in the 1970s), this film poster drawing was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Yaadgaar poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster art studio in Kolkata.
A large hand drawn close up of actress Nutan is seen on the right. Manoj Kumar (also known as “Bharat Kumar” for all the patriotic roles he appeared in during his career in Indian cinema) is seen playing a single stringed musical instrument, i.e. Ektara alongside. A smaller illustration of actor Pran holding a pistol is seen on the left of this film poster drawing. Two camels are seen illustrated at the bottom.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi. A soothing shade of green is used in this two color hand painted Bollywood poster.
The lyrics of a popular song from the film sung by Mahendra Kapoor are seen written on the top of this hand drawn film poster: “Ek Tara Bole Tun Tun Tun, Kya Kahe Ye Tumse Sun Sun Sun; Baat Hai Lambi Matlab Gol, Kholdi Isne Sabki Pol” (English translation: “Ektara Says Tun Tun Tun, What It Says To You Listen Listen Listen; The Message Is Long and It’s Meaning Complex, It Has Opened Everyone’s Secret”).
The memorable music album of Yaadgaar (1970) was composed by noted duo Kalyanji-Anandji.
