Sepia movie poster for sale: Zameen Aasmaan (1972).
This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1972 Hindi film written, produced and directed by A. Veerappan that starred Ashok Kumar, Sunil Dutt and Rekha in prominent roles.
Zameen Aasmaan (1972) was a Bollywood drama that also starred Yogeeta Bali and Achala Sachdev in supporting roles. The story of the film was inspired from the Malayalam play and film Kadalpalam (1969) written by K.T. Mohammed.
Printed and circulated during the initial release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in the early 1970s), this original Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This sepia movie poster was originally designed in mixed media format using both hand painted oil on canvas as well as photographic collage techniques.
The title of the film appears at the bottom in stunning 3D styled typography in red. A sepia toned black and white still photo of the lead couple Sunil Dutt and Rekha at a beach is seen at the center. The still has been taken from the song “Ek Raat Ki Hai Baat” sung by Asha Bhosle and the two appear drenched.
The background of this sepia movie poster sharply divides the sandy beach from the ocean, with a contrast of gold and blue. Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi.
The soundtrack album of Zameen Aasmaan was composed by one of the greatest singer’s in Indian cinema, Kishore Kumar, who also sang three popular songs in the film, “Aankhen Tumhari Do Jahan,” “Bakhuda Khullam Khulla” and “Hum Tum Chale, Tum Chale, Hum Chale.”
