Featured here for sale is an original movie poster of the 1992 cult Hindi film directed by Mani Ratnam that starred Madhoo (credited as Madhubala) in the titular character opposite Arvind Swamy.
Produced by K. Balachander under his Kavithalayaa Productions banner, Roja (1992) also starred Pankaj Kapur, Nassar, Janagaraj, Shiva Rindani, Vaishnavi Aravind and Vijaya Chandrik in supporting roles.
Roja (1992) told the story of a young woman called Roja (Madhoo) who gets married to a communications specialist with R.A.W. called Rishi Kumar (Arvind Swamy). Their blissful married life is turned upside down when Rishi is kidnapped by terrorists in Kashmir. The film traces Roja’s desperate efforts to find and rescue her husband.
Roja (1992) won three National Film Awards, most notably Best Film on National Integration. The film marked music maestro A.R. Rahman’s debut as composer, making this Roja poster highly collectible!

Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (somewhere in the 1990s), this Roja poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Tamil movie poster was originally designed in photographic collage format. A still photograph of actress Madhoo dancing is seen at the center. The poster is set against a minimalist white background, making the image stand out in sharp contrast.
The title appears in a blood red font, with a red underline below in both Devanagari Hindi as well as in English. A message on the top of this Roja poster reads, “I Love India.”
Roja (1992) was the first installment of Mani Ratnam’s Hindi trilogy, followed by Bombay (1995) and Dil Se.. (1998).
The title song of the film composed by A.R. Rahman remains an unforgettable classic in Indian cinema.
