Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the 1956 black and white historical Hindi drama directed by Jaswant Jhaveri that starred Paidi Jairaj in the titular role opposite Nirupa Roy.

Produced by Gouri Shankar Goel and released under the Dinesh Films banner, Amar Singh Rathaur (1956) also starred Helen, Murad, Ram Singh, Ramesh Sinha, Sunder, Al Nasir, Yashodhara Katju, Ratnamala and Veena in supporting roles.

Shot extensively in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri, Amar Singh Rathaur (1956) was based on the real life story of a Rajput warrior by the same name who is remembered for his exemplary bravery.

Printed and circulated during a subsequent release of the film in Delhi (somewhere in the 1960s), this vintage Amar Singh Rathod movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This old Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a film poster art studio in Delhi.

A stunning hand drawn portrait of P. Jairaj who plays the titular role of Amar Singh Rathaur is seen illustrated on the top left of the poster. Dressed in royal attire, he is depicted in a warrior pose, brandishing a sword. Actress Nirupa Roy, who plays princess Chandrawati in the movie, is seen in a stunning large portrait in the foreground carrying a sword in her hand.

Pleasing pastel shades are used in the design of this old hand drawn Indian cinema poster. A blank background makes the three portraits in the foreground stand out in stark contrast.

Typography used in this Amar Singh Rathore historical movie poster is primarily in Devanagari Hindi, with the title seen translated to Urdu as well.

The soundtrack album of Amar Singh Rathaur (1956) was composed by Sanmukh Babu, while lyrics were written by Pandit Bharat Vyas. One of the tracks from the film, “Chori Chori Mat Dekho” sung by Manna Dey and Sudha Malhotra became very popular at the time of it’s release.
