This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood showcard of the old 1980 Hindi film directed by Harmesh Malhotra that starred Shatrughan Sinha and Neetu Singh in pivotal roles.
Ajit, Jeevan, Ranjeet, Danny Denzongpa, Jagdeep, Prema Narayan, Heena Kausar, B. M. Vyas and Sudhir played supporting roles in the film.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters, this old Bollywood cinema showcard was originally designed for publicity of the film inside the foyer of a cinema.
Showcards were used as pin ups on notice boards inside foyers of cinema halls. Printed on photo paper, they are mounted on cardboard to make them easy to display.
This rare surviving old Bollywood cinema showcard was actually issued to a cinema hall that screened the film Choron Ki Baaraat, making it highly collectible!
This Choron Ki Baaraat poster showcard was originally designed on canvas boards in hand painted format by a leading poster art studio in Bombay called Tulika arts. The illustration is stunning and captivating, showing a clear demarcation between good and evil through different shades of color. A large hand painted close up of actor Danny is seen on the left in shades of blue and green, signifying a negative character. In symmetry, actor Shatrughan Sinha appears on the right painted in normal human tone in this old Bollywood cinema showcard for sale.
A photographic collage is seen pasted at the bottom depicting a band of thieves, including Jeevan and Sudhir. The title appears on the top in a stunning red font. Typography used in this old Bollywood cinema showcard is entirely in English.
The soundtrack album of Choron Ki Baaraat was composed by the hit duo Laxmikant Pyarelal. Two songs from the film became very popular at the time of it’s release, namely “Aakhri Waqt Koi Dua Maang Le” sung by Lata Mangeshkar and “Teri Meri Dosti Ho Gayi, Sari Duniya Se Dushmani Ho Gayi” sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.
