Shatrughan Sinha photo showcard for sale: Choron Ki Baaraat (1980).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood showcard of the 1980 Hindi film directed by Harmesh Malhotra that starred Shatrughan Sinha and Neetu Singh in pivotal roles.
Ajit, Jeevan, Ranjeet, Danny Denzongpa, Jagdeep, Prema Narayan, Heena Kausar, B. M. Vyas and Sudhir played supporting roles in the film.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters, this old Bollywood showcard was originally designed for publicity of the film inside the foyer of a cinema.
Showcards were used as pin ups on notice boards inside foyers of cinema halls. Printed on photo paper, they are mounted on cardboard to make them easy to display.
This rare surviving hand drawn Bollywood poster showcard was actually issued to a cinema hall that screened the film Choron Ki Baaraat, making it highly collectible!
It was originally designed on a canvas board in hand painted format by a leading poster art studio in Bombay called Tulika arts. The illustration uses striking colors with beautiful brush strokes.
A large hand painted close up of actor Shatrughan Sinha is seen in a stunning portrait at the center of the artwork. A lot of texture and broad brush strokes have been used to illustrate his face, giving him a rugged and macho look. A photographic still featuring Neetu Singh, Ranjeet and Ajit is seen on the left.
Another still of supporting actors Jeevan, Danny Denzongpa, Jagdeep and Sudhir is seen on the right. The title appears at the bottom right in a catchy red font. Typography used in this Shatrughan Sinha photo showcard is entirely in Devanagari Hindi.
The soundtrack album of Choron Ki Baaraat was composed by the hit duo Laxmikant Pyarelal. Two songs from the film became very popular at the time of it’s release, namely “Aakhri Waqt Koi Dua Maang Le” sung by Lata Mangeshkar and “Teri Meri Dosti Ho Gayi, Sari Duniya Se Dushmani Ho Gayi” sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.
