Aakhri Kasam poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving old Bollywood poster of the 1979 Hindi action drama directed by Dinesh-Ramnesh that starred Vinod Mehra, Kabir Bedi and Yogeeta Bali in key roles.
Produced by K.L. Chitkara and presented under the C.S. Productions banner, Aakhri Kasam (1979) also starred Priyadarshini, Imtiaz Khan, Om Shivpuri, Helen, Urmila Bhatt, Nazir Hussain, Satyendra Kapoor and Mohan Sherry in supporting roles, while Madan Puri made a special appearance in the film.
Aakhri Kasam (1979) told the story of a poor farmer (Satyendra Kapoor) who’s wife is raped by a powerful landlord (Om Shivpuri). Unable to bear the grief, she commits suicide along with their only son. The farmer vows to avenge their deaths and reaches the evil landlord’s mansion to kill him. Unable to find him, he kidnaps one of his two sons in a fit of rage. Just when he is about to kill the child in the wilderness, he is stopped by an ascetic who urges him to raise the child instead as a fearless vigilante for the poor. The boy grows up to become “Badal” (Kabir Bedi) and stands up against the atrocities committed by his own biological father (not knowing he is actually his son). In the meanwhile, the evil landlord’s second son (Vinod Mehra) has returned from the city as an honest police inspector. Both now turn up the heat on his wrongdoings. The landlord in turn recruits a dreaded dacoit (Imtiaz Khan) to eliminate Badal.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (somewhere in the 1980s), this Kabir Bedi poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
Originally hand drawn on canvas by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi, this Aakhri Kasam poster features striking illustrated artwork. A quirky illustration of actor Kabir Bedi riding on a white horse is seen hand drawn prominently on the left. Actress Yogeeta Bali is seen alongside in a close up portrait along with villain Imtiaz Khan on the right of this old Bollywood poster.
The entire background of this Aakhri Kasam poster is covered in fiery brush strokes and flames, giving away the action-packed premise of the film. A stick figure illustration of bandits on horses seen on the bottom right of this Vinod Mehra poster.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi. The title uses yellow with a black border to draw the viewer’s attention.
The soundtrack album of Aakhri Kasam (1979) was composed by Ravindra Jain, while lyrics were co-written by him along with Dev Kohli. It featured the memorable song, “Tera Rang Bada Hai Gora” sung by Mohammed Rafi.
