Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the old 1991 fantasy Hindi drama produced and directed by Mohan T. Gehani that starred actress Sripradha in the role of shape shifting serpent woman “Bijlee” and debutant actor Ajay Kumar as inspector “Badal.”

Presented by Tejumal P. Gehani under the Devi Films banner, Bijlee Aur Badal (1991) also starred Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor, Rajesh Vivek, Ajit Vachani, Rakesh Bedi, Sunil Dhawan and Goga Kapoor in supporting roles.

The film told the story of a female serpent called Bijlee that has been loyally guarding an ancient statue of Lord Shiva for a century. She is granted Ichchadhari (shape shifting) powers for her century long penance on the auspicious day of Mahashivratri and turns into a female dacoit to take revenge against a dreaded bandit for stealing the statue.

This old Bollywood snake movies poster was originally designed in photographic collage format by cutting out stills of actors using a blade and pasting them on a board. The printed stamp of Indian film poster artist Ravi is seen on the bottom right of this Bijlee Aur Badal poster.

Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1991), this old Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

A striking still photo of actress Sripradha is seen prominently on the top of this Bijlee Aur Badal movie poster. The photo captures the depth in her eyes perfectly as she appears with both her palms raised. A king cobra and a kite are seen on each of her shoulders, while a snake bindi appears on her forehead. The soundtrack album of Bijlee Aur Badal (1991) was composed by Anwar-Usman, while lyrics were written by Dilip Tahir. It featured the memorable duet, “Jab Se Hui Main Satrah Baras Ki” sung by Anupama Deshpande and Udit Narayan.
