Duplicate movie poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 1998 Hindi film directed by Mahesh Bhatt that featured the “King of Bollywood,” superstar Shah Rukh Khan in a double role opposite Sonali Bendre and Juhi Chawla.
Produced by Yash Johar, Duplicate (1998) marked the first of Shah Rukh Khan’s many subsequent collaborations with Yash and Karan Johar’s production company Dharma Productions, making this Shahrukh Khan poster, highly collectible!
Duplicate (1998) was a crime comedy drama that featured Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role as chef Bablu and notorious gangster Manu. Bablu is an innocent godly man with a childlike zest for life. He is in love with his colleague Sonia (Sonali Bendre) who works as the catering manager of the same hotel he is employed as head chef at. Before he can confess his love for Sonia, Bablu is mistaken by the police to be his doppelganger Manu and locked up. He manages to proves his real identity and the police give him an identity card to prevent any mix ups in the future. However, when Manu learns of this, he forces Bablu to switch places with him until the police stop looking for him. What follows after the swap is a hilarious chain of events. Manu begins flirting with Sonia who notices that the shy Bablu she knew as her colleague has suddenly been completely transformed. At the same time, Lily (Juhi Chawla) notices that Manu (who is actually Bablu) has reformed and is no longer an immoral womanizer but rather a god fearing loving man, whom she begins to seek out.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film (somewhere in 1998), this Shah Rukh Khan poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
The “Baadshah of Bollywood” is seen in his two different characters in full length photos in this original Duplicate movie poster. The title of the fim appears multiple times spanning the entire width of the poster in the background. The main title appears in red at the bottom.
The soundtrack album of Duplicate (1998) was composed by Anu Malik, while lyrics were written by Javed Akhtar. It was a blockbuster hit at the time of it’s release. “Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam” sung by Alka Yagnik & Udit Narayan is fondly remembered and played till today. “Kathai Aankhon Wali Ek Ladki” sung by Kumar Sanu and “Ek Shararat Hone Ko Hai” sung by Kumar Sanu & Kavita Krishnamurthy were other very popular tracks from the film.
