Unreleased movie posters for sale: Dushmanee (Meri Qurbani).
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the old Hindi action drama written and directed by Dinesh Ramnesh that starred Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod Mehra and Moushumi Chatterjee in key roles.
Produced by K.G. Moti and presented by EM.M. Movie, Dushmanee (Meri Qurbani) also featured Ashok Kumar, Ranjeet, Asrani, Madan Puri, Dina Pathak, Birbal, Jugnu, Guddi, Mohan Sherry, Jagdish Raj and Bob Christo in supporting roles, while Yogita Bali made a guest appearance in the film.
Initially titled Dushmanee, Meri Qurbani told the story of two friends called Rajasaheb and Charandas who become rival gangsters and are in love with the same woman.
Printed and circulated prior to the intended release of the film in theaters (somewhere in the late 1970s), this unreleased movie poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Dushmanee poster was originally designed using mixed media techniques, combining both oil on canvas hand painted art style as well as photographic collage by Bombay-based Bollywood poster studio Shashikala.
Striking symmetrical illustrated portraits of the two lead stars, Shatrughan Sinha and Vinod Mehra are seen facing each other on the left and right respectively. The two are seen grappling with each other in a photographic still at the center of this old Bollywood poster. Smaller hand painted close up portraits of actors Ashok Kumar and Ranjeet are seen on the top right.
An over painted photographic still of actress Moushumi Chatterjee is seen at the top center of this unreleased movie poster. Surrounded by musical notes, the still is taken from a qawwali song in the film. Several seated background singers are seen in the background on the top.
A stunning red, yellow and orange background is seen on the top of this old Bollywood poster, while the bottom is minimal white. Typography used in this old Dushmanee poster is primarily in English, with the title translated to Devanagari Hindi as well. The main English title appears in light and dark blue, with a yellow and orange border.
The soundtrack album of Meri Qurbani (Dushmanee) was composed by hit duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, while lyrics were written by Sahir Ludhianvi and Asad Bhopali.
