This is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 2022 biographical sports Hindi drama written and directed by Nagraj Manjule that starred the biggest superstar in Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role.
Ankush Gedam, Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru played supporting roles in the film.
Jhund (2022) was based on the real life inspirational story of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer. Superstar Amitabh Bachchan played the role of sports teacher “Vijay Borade,” who on the verge of retirement forms a football team comprising children from a slum.
Although the film had a very modest run at the box office, it was highly praised by critics for it’s social message, making this Amitabh movie poster highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the debut of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2022), this Jhund poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Lead actor Amitabh Bachchan is seen in a large waist length photographic still at the top. A face off between two soccer teams is seen below, with the professional team on the left and the team comprising kids from a slum on the right.
The title is seen in English on the top left in hand painted brush-marked font and again in Devanagari Hindi on the bottom left. The subtitle is seen on the top right which reads, “Jhund Nahin, Team Kahiye (Not a Herd, Call us a Team),” which lays down the premise of the film. The word team appears underlined.
A line at the bottom of this Amitabh Bachchan poster reads, “Big Film on Big Screen” followed by the release date (4th March, 2022).
The soundtrack album of Jhund was co-written and composed by popular composer duo Ajay–Atul.
