The film won the critics award for Best Film and Best Actor for Shah Rukh Khan at the 39th Filmfare Awards. It is reported that Shah Rukh Khan received only Rs. 25,000 for acting in the film (approximately $300 USD). Owing to it’s dream run at the box office, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994) was remade in Telugu as Swapnalokam (1999).
